Agriculture is a mainstay of the Indian economy being deeply rooted in the Indian Culture. The concept of agri-tourism is not very new; however, it is gaining importance and growing in the recent years. Agri-tourism provides the urban tourists and experience of rural life by opening up the farms to them. It is regarded as the intersection of tourism and agriculture. It has a potential to reduce the uncertainty of farming or agri-entrepreneurship/ agri-business by generating additional income and creating job opportunities to the farm families. It is environmentally conscious, socially responsible, culturally compatible, ethical valuable, market competitive and economically profitable. The overall potential for agri-tourism can only be achieved if strategies to address and overcome the challenges are developed and implemented.
